How to use Skype with Join.me

  • Have you ever wanted to share screens with someone? Perhaps a friend needed to trouble shoot a problem you were having with your computer, or maybe you wanted to invite a group to watch something you produced on your PC or Mac.

There’s a site that makes screen sharing a breeze. It’s called Join.me, and believe it or not, it is free (though you can upgrade to a premium account). Join.me is great and we (Chip Dizard and I) often use it to trouble shoot a problem if someone needs help with a video, or we will share screens to demonstrate something.

The only drawback is, to talk to someone, Join.me requires that you use a phone bridge line. That may not seem like a major inconvenience, and it normally isn’t, but if you’re like us, you may want to screen record your Join.me session. If you’re on a phone, there’s no way to capture the audio with your computer.

We found a simple free solution to this situation. Use Skype to make a voice call, then use join.me for the screen capture. If you’re wondering exactly what we mean, then watch the tutorial below.
